Microsoft Skills 2000 Initiative Comes to San
Diego
February 3, 1999, San Diego, CA — Vortex Data Systems,
a Microsoft Certified Technical Education Center, today announced that the
company is hosting Microsoft’s Skills 2000 IT Career Nights, February 16
and 18. The Career Nights are informal, interactive events that give
individuals instant information on the many opportunities in information
technology (IT) and show them the path to prepare for the thousands of
information technology careers available within a variety of industries. The
Vortex staff will be available to consult with individuals and suggest
appropriate computer training and development paths. Skills 2000 IT Career
Nights are open to everyone, from those who have little experience with
computers to experienced high-tech professionals.
Individuals have the opportunity to attend Career Night on either
February 16 or February 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each night. The event is

Skills 2000 IT Career Nights are part of the Microsoft Skills 2000
initiative, a series of innovative programs aimed to significantly reduce
the IT workforce shortage by reaching out to people interested in developing
IT careers. Skilled IT professionals are in high demand. A recent study
completed by Microsoft showed that with current job openings and projected
hires combined, Microsoft business partners and customers in the United
States will require 647,000 new skilled IT workers over the next 12 months.
