Vortex Data Systems Celebrates 15 Years of
Providing Technical Education for San Diego and Expands Facility
March 8, 1999, San Diego, CA — Vortex Data Systems
will celebrate its 15-year anniversary and the completion of new classrooms
during an Open House on March 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Since 1984, Vortex
has been dedicated to helping San Diego businesses maintain a competitive
edge by integrating people with networking technology. The company is a
leader in training for certification in Microsoft and Novell operating
systems and HyCurve internet training. Vortex is also a host site for Oracle
education in San Diego. The recent expansion has increased the facility
capacity to a total of 10 classrooms and 140 workstations, while maintaining
conference seating for up to 84 people.
"Our recent expansion is a testimonial to the continually growing
need for quality technical education that I’ve seen over the past 15
years," commented CEO and President, Paul Christiansen. "Vortex is
primed to meet the current and future demands of educating IT professionals
for San Diego."
The Vortex Open House will provide the opportunity for everyone in and
interested in entering the computer technology field to see the facilities
and services available to them for education at Vortex. New classrooms
contain state-of-the-art computers and presentation equipment to facilitate
learning and ensure a quality experience. Additional amenities include: the
Internet Cafe, where complimentary refreshments and access to the Internet
are available; the Extranet Patio, where a barbecue lunch is served every
Thursday; expanded on-site testing center for student convenience; and a
seminar room, for vendor presentations and lunch each Wednesday.
"Our goal is to create an environment conducive to learning,"
stated Catherine Bristol, Director of Education. "The events and extras
add a value to our regular class schedule that rounds out the students’
education."
During the Open House, Vortex instructors will be on hand to answer
questions regarding class content, and education specialists will be ready
to assist those interested in pursuing Microsoft, Novell, or HyCurve
certification.
Representatives from several Vortex education partners, such as
Microsoft, Novell, HyCurve, and Oracle, will join the festivities and field
queries regarding education for their particular products. Christiansen will
take this opportunity to talk with executives from local companies about
maximizing their investment in the technical work force through education.
"I am interested in looking at training from a business management
perspective," Christiansen said. "As a business owner, I
understand the importance of staying ahead of the competition while putting
your dollars in the right place to make that happen. This forum will provide
the means to discover the role technical education can play in maintaining
that competitive edge and effectively managing and controlling costs."
