Vortex Data Systems and Novell Launch Second High
School Scholarship Program—“FutureNet 98”
May 1, 1998, San Diego, CA — Vortex Data Systems, the
leader in authorized technical training in San Diego County, is now
accepting applications for its second Novell-sponsored scholarship program,
FutureNet 98. This scholarship, valued at $3,000.00 per student, is geared
toward high school juniors and seniors who have exceptional computer
networking and Internet technology experience. Selected candidates will take
Novell networking classes IntranetWare: NetWare 4.11 Administration,
Internet Business Strategies and Web Authoring and Publishing. The intense
two-week class schedule will be held over the summer and will encompass
group study to prepare for the official Certified Novell Administrator (CNA)
certification exams. This is the initial step toward becoming a Certified
Novell Engineer (CNE), a coveted designation in the computer engineering
field.
The rigorous FutureNet 98 application process consists of a written essay, application form,
academic recommendation letters, parental consent form, and ends with a
written test and an interview with Vortex staff. Candidates will be judged
on overall skill and motivation level as well as prior achievements. In
addition to Novell, Sylvan Training Center is donating its services by
providing Novell test vouchers to be used at Vortex, which is one of
Sylvan’s Authorized Prometric Testing Centers.
Deadline to submit entries is Friday, June 5th at 5:00 pm. Vortex is

"This year we’ve added two Internet classes to the scholarship
program since there is such a growing demand for more web-based
technology," said Catherine Bristol, Vortex’s Education Manager.
For the past 15 years, Vortex has been dedicated to helping San Diego

They offer authorized curriculum from Novell and Microsoft, and provide a
host site for six of the computer industry’s top user groups. They also

98 is one of several training programs focused on youth achievement.
