TCP/IP JumpStart Authored by Vortex Data Systems'
Instructor
SAN DIEGO, CA, January 28, 2000 – Vortex Data Systems’ veteran
instructor, Andrew G. Blank, authored TCP/IP JumpStart, released
January 27, 2000. TCP/IP JumpStart, published by Sybex Inc., is the
first book on this topic written expressly for the beginner in computer
networking. TCP/IP JumpStart demystifies the complexity of TCP/IP by
explaining the fundamentals in simple terms with understandable examples.
The book (ISBN 0-7821-2644-8) can be purchased at the Vortex Bookstore and
major online bookstores such as Amazon, Fatbrain, BooksaMillion, Borders,
and Barnes and Noble. The book contains 304 pages and is listed for $19.99.
TCP/IP is the basic protocol of the Internet, and is supported by every
major network operating system. Most books on the subject are written to an
audience of advanced networking professionals. With more and more people
getting into the Information Technology profession, Blank realized the need
for a book written for a reader with little to no information technology
experience. “While teaching information technology courses at Vortex,” noted
Blank, “I realized students new to the industry, as well as some seasoned
professionals, lack a concise understanding of TCP/IP.” Blank continues,
“This book presents definitions in the simplest terms and then uses that as
a foundation to deepen the discussion. The reader will find each topic
simply explained to make it tangible, then further defined into a useable
and more meaningful depth.”
Blank joined the Vortex Data Systems instructor team in 1997. He has
provided technical instruction to 100’s of information technology
professionals in course topics for Microsoft and Novell. Catherine Bristol,
Vortex’s Director of Education states, “Andy is an extremely knowledgeable
instructor. His book will be of great value to all IT professionals.”
